![]() These guys run around in the store in full black SWAT Tactical mall ninja gear~~~~I think they're "SWAT"(StupidWannabeesAndTriggerhappy) The guy at the "Tactical store" says it's a "custom job".Duhhhhhhhh. Perfectly round stainless. And the cutouts are in the very end of it. I haven't seen another cage like this in any place I've looked. I don't know if it screws on?(can't see no threads) or is soldered on(can't see no solder)? It goes onto the barrel about 3/4" and the barrel looks as if it has been relieved on the OD for it.There's about 1/32" of the relief showing. It's a Bushy stainless 24" Varmint special and it has a 4 1/4" SS birdcage stuck on the end of the barrel. I was wondering if mine came off? It's a bastard I believe. Be careful-it is very easy to exceed this torque value.Ī final note-make darned sure that the flash hider is THREADED on, and not silver-soldered in place before you take the wrench to it. The barrel nut is torqued to a value of 35-40 lb/ft I use the same value on the flash suppressor. Of course, if the flash hider does not need indexing, just install the proper peel washer.Ħ. Ideally, the flash hider should be very close (about 1/32 inch) from being indexed. Measure the gap, then remove the flash hider and install the proper washer. If you have a flash hider that needs to be indexed, screw it on all the way, then turn it back out until the flash hider is properly indexed. Now, turn the flash suppressor onto the barrel. Clean the threads well, and apply a small amount of anti-seize lube.ĥ. Now, give the wrench a good whack with a piece of hard, heavy wood. With the one on the flash suppressor flats (after it is secured nice and snug), position the upper receiver so that the wrench can swing freely. After using the Kroil, fit the proper wrenches. After about 1 hour, repeat the treatment. Tap the suppressor gently with a small hammer, and let it sit. ![]() Do the same to the little ledge visible inside the muzzle. Liberally anoint the outside (where the suppressor fits the barrel, and the peel washers) with Kroil. Any movement will mean alignment problems, and possible canting of the barrel and loss of accuracy.ġ. You MUST use the proper wrenches to remove the suppressor, and the proper wrench to hold the barrel tightly to prevent it from clocking (turning) in the receiver. This key is on the upper receiver, underneath your slip ring, barrel nut, etc. Where your barrel indexes into the receiver, there is a "key" (for want of a better word) that fits into a corresponding space on the barrel. If you decide that you absolutely positively must crank that suppressor off, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS TO DO IT!!! Simply taking the 12" adjustable wrench will not do. ![]()
